U.S. Import Tariffs Update, March 5th, 2025 & Fraudulent Email Warning

Urgent Tariff Advisory – Impact on FF&E Imports

Dear Valued Client,

The U.S. has implemented new tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), impacting FF&E imports.

Effective March 4, 2025:

  • China: Additional 10% tariff, bringing the total increase to 20% (on top of existing duties, including Section 301 duties).

  • Canada & Mexico: 25% tariffs now in effect (exempting shipments under $800).

  • Chinese goods imported via Mexico/Canada will still be subject to Chinese tariffs upon U.S. entry.

🚨 Key Considerations:

  • No grace period for new shipments—March 4 tariffs apply to shipments loaded or shipped as of today and are due upon arrival in the U.S.

  • Exemptions: Goods already in transit before February 1, 2025 are not subject to the new tariffs, while shipments departing on or after February 1 will be subject to the tariffs upon arrival.

  • Bond coverage – Standard $50K bonds may not be sufficient for increased duties.

  • Reciprocal tariffs scheduled to begin April 2 – The U.S. plans to implement reciprocal tariffs on April 2, 2025, matching the duties and non-tariff barriers imposed by other nations.

📌 What You Should Do:
Review your supply chain strategy to assess cost impacts.
Verify bond coverage with your provider.
