U.S. Import Tariffs Update, April 2nd, 2025

Dear Valued Client,

We’re reaching out to share a timely update regarding new U.S. tariffs that may affect your international shipments of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E).

What’s New:
On April 2, 2025, President Donald Trump announced a new tariff package that includes:

  • A universal 10% tariff on all imported goods, taking effect April 5, 2025

  • Additional country-specific tariffs, including a 34% tariff on goods from China

Key Clarification:
These newly announced tariffs are in addition to existing tariffs—not a replacement. For example, Chinese goods that were previously subject to a 20% tariff will now face a combined rate of 54% (20% existing + 34% new).

What This Means for You:
If you're sourcing FF&E internationally, especially from impacted regions like China, your shipments could face increased costs effective immediately. This change may also affect project budgets and timelines depending on current sourcing strategies.

JMC Global Is Here to Help:
We understand the complexity this adds to your procurement and logistics planning. JMC Global is actively monitoring these developments and is ready to help you navigate the changes—whether it’s revising rate estimates, exploring alternative sourcing options, or adjusting shipping strategies.

Our goal is to provide clarity and support as you continue to move projects forward.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns—we're here to assist.

Warm regards,

JMC Global
