The escalation of rates has paused momentarily, at least. In fact, steamship lines have reduced their ocean freight rates as of July 8th and are postponing GRI and Peak Season Surcharges.

Please note, the carriers still published a General Rate Increase of $1,000 with the Federal Maritime Commission for August 1st and August 15th, so they could be assessed at any time. We will keep our eyes on the rate increases for you.

IN OTHER NEWS

ZIM ZEX' maiden voyage arrived on time into Los Angeles after a 12-day transit from Yantian, China. Note: 12 Day transit is the fastest transit from South China to LA.

American President Lines will be rolled into CMA beginning October 1st. CMA will be flagged as the sole carrier in the Transpacific. APL contracts will be good until the end of April 2021, and APL space will be voluntarily under custody of CMA.
